Melissa Ann Gleason Shillings, age 40, of the Darlington area, died at 9:57 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Franciscan Health Lafayette East Hospital, from injuries she received as a result of a vehicle striking the motorcycle she and her husband were riding. She was born in Frankfort, January 21, 1977 daughter of Mike and Pam Hardy Gleason. She married Kristoffer Jason Shillings in Crawfordsville, March 2, 1996, he survives.

Melissa graduated with the class of 1995 from North Montgomery High School. She attended Ivy Tech State College and received an Associates Degree as an LPN. She was nurse for Dr. Mary Glass the past 10 years. She also was owner of MAJK Beauty and was a distributor for LipSense. She enjoyed gardening and attending garage sales. She rarely missed her children's school activities and was the center of all family activities. Her ever-present smile and infectious laugh, endeared her to all who knew her. She didn't know a stranger! The beach was her 'happy place'.

Surviving along with her husband Kris are: two children; Jordan K. Shillings (fiancé Katelyn Stump) of Lebanon and Abigail Shillings at home; her parents, Mike and Pam Hardy Gleason of Crawfordsville, two brothers; Don Gleason (Jim Graham) of Ft. Wayne and Josh Gleason (wife Kallie) of Crawfordsville. A special sister, Brittany Nichols (husband Seth) of Darlington, Grandmother Beverly Gleason. Her in-laws; Robert Shillings (wife Sharon) of Lebanon and Sandi Shillings of Ft. Myers, FL , brothers-in law; Garry Shillings (wife Christy) and Kerry (wife Jamie) Shillings both of Crawfordsville. Numerous nieces and nephews also surive. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Robert and Velma Hardy and Charles Gleason.

Visitation will be 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Stone Creek Lodge (2865 South State Road 47, Crawfordsville, IN 47933). Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at Stone Creek Lodge with Pastor Mark Stevens officiating. A private family interment will take place following Kris' release from the hospital. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting her family with arrangements.
