Crawfordsville – Michael D. Smith age 28, died unexpectedly from complications of a stroke, 10:17 p.m. Sunday, November 30, 2014 in St. E. East Hospital, Lafayette, he became ill Saturday morning. He was born in Crawfordsville, September 11, 1986 son of Leon and Sherry Willhite Smith, they both survive.

He attended both Crawfordsville and North Montgomery Schools. He had been involved with helping troubled kids at the Ladoga Academy. He enjoyed working with his hands, cartoons and his family.

Mikey was a soft hearted, generous, helpful person and was known as 'Uncle Mikey' to everyone. He will be greatly missed by all who knew his kind and gentle nature.

Surviving along with his parents, Leon & Sherry Smith of Crawfordsville, are a brother: Wesley (Jaclyn) Anderson of Crawfordsville: His Great-grandmother: Ann Little of Williamsport. Step-daughter: Olivia Haderle. Several uncles, aunts and cousins also survive. Preceding him in death are; a sister Kristi Humphrey, Grandparents: Richard & Judith Willhite, Lloyd & Betty Smith.

His family will greet guests, from noon – 1:00 p.m. with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with Pastor Alan Sparks officiating. Interment will follow in Willhite Cemetery, near Wingate. Memorials may be directed to Montgomery County Animal Welfare League, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
