With hearts filled with gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved husband and father, Michael “Mike” Dean Sosbe, who took his final breath surrounded by his wife, children, and grandchildren on April 21, 2026 at the age of 73. Mike was born on October 29, 1952 in Crawfordsville, IN to Howard Wayne and Wilma (McMurry) Sosbe. He served as an active member of the Indiana National Guard for 6 years. Mike worked at the California Pellet Mill for over 42 years prior to his retirement in January 2016.
From humble beginnings, Mike built a life anchored by hard work and devotion to his family whether he was making cakes to celebrate special occasions, attending numerous activities for his kids and grandkids, finding special gifts that he enjoyed giving or caring for his beloved chihuahuas. Mike enjoyed working with his tools and building crafts, riding his John Deer tractor, and his model train sets. He leaves an indelible influence on those he loved and many cherished memories.
Mike was a devoted husband to his wife of 52 years, Sonya (Oppy) Sosbe, father to his four children, Jennifer Fry (Jeremy), Elizabeth Cochran (Howard), Michael J. Sosbe (Jessica) and Kylie McFarland (Joseph). Mike had nine grandchildren, Ryan, Ethan, and Madison Fry, Joshua (Kaelyn) and Caleb Cochran, Johnathan Sosbe, and Zoey, Jayken, and Zaylie McFarland and had several nieces, nephews and cousins. All surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dale, Richard, Lyle, and Carolyn.
Visitation will be held at Family and Friends Funeral Home in Wingate, IN on April 25, 2026 from 12:00 to 2:00 pm with funeral service starting at 2:00 p.m. A military burial service will immediately follow at New Richmond Cemetery.
