Attica – Miriam Groff Quigle age 98, died following a lengthy illness at 11:50 p.m. Thursday October 14, 2010 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center in Attica, where she had resided since 1999. She was born in Clarks Hill, Indiana on August 13, 1912 the daughter of Forrest and Martha Peterson Groff. On June 30, 1930 she was married to Howard Quigle in Newtown and they operated and resided on the Quigle Family farm near Newtown. He preceded her in death in 1988.
Miriam graduated from Newtown High School in 1929 and attended Purdue University for two years. She had been a member of the Newtown Community Church and the Newtown-Hillsboro Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid of Purdue University Sports and traveling.
Survivors include: a son: Linn H. (wife Betty) Quigle of rural Wingate. Four grandchildren: Lance (wife Ann) Quigle of Naples, FL, Carla Knecht (companion John Lawson) of rural Wingate, Nancy (husband Greg) Harrison of Kingman and Stacey (husband Craig) Replogle of Brownsburg. Eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Friends may call at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, Monday, October 18, 2010 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 8:00 P.M. with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Private family burial at Newtown Cemetery. The family requests in lieu of flowers, contributions may best be directed to the Newtown Cemetery or Newtown Community Church, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
