Obituary

Myron Paul Kirkpatrick, Jr. best known as 'Paul', age 83, formerly of rural Attica, passed away in the Waters of Covington following a lengthy illness, at 9:30 AM Saturday, January 3, 2026. He was born at home in Fountain County, January 8, 1942 to the late Myron P. and Doris Welsh Kirkpatrick.  At the young age of twelve, Paul witnessed a tree falling onto the bulldozer his father was operating on their farm causing his death.  Paul was first married to Marie Jacobs and they later divorced.

Paul moved with his mother to Hialeah, Florida following his father's death and graduated from Hialeah High School.  Paul's mind was always working and while in high school shop class he invented a part for the airline industry that is still being used today.  He was employed by Pan American Airlines for several years before returning to Indiana. In Indiana he was employed by the Applegate family at DriAll Grain Drying Equip. Co. near Attica.  Following the closing of DriAll he was employed by Rush Metals in Lafayette and later a career at C&D Technologies in Attica from where he retired.

Paul was always working, he had a mechanical mind, good with his hands and could put projects together from things simply laying around his farm.  He invented at Walnut Cracker and a heated bowl for watering pets, foul, and small animals in the winter, but his attorney passed away before he could file his patent.

He was a beekeeper, made maple syrup, tended his fruit trees, garden and flowers.  Paul always had a camera nearby and took literally thousands of photos.  Back in the day he was active on his CB Radio with his handle being 'Sunshine'.  He was also a local weather spotter and reported weather to WLFI TV.  He was a long time member of the Wabash Valley Baptist Church.  Paul would literally give you the shirt off his back if you needed it.

Surviving are a son; Myron E. (Candy) Kirkpatrick of Attica, a daughter; Bertie Kirkpatrick-Fry of Crawfordsville.  Two sisters; Ruth (Ralph) Stewart of Martinsville, IL and Wanda Bonnell of North Judson, IN.  Many grand and great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son John, daughter Charlotte and her husband Mark Robbins, two grandsons Sean and Max Kirkpatrick and a sister Gloria. Also an aunt who helped raise him, Bertha Shultz and his Uncle Lawrence Kirkpatrick and wife Emma Jean who he thought of as a dad, a dear friend/companion Mildred Stump and his favorite cat Smokey.
