Newtown - Nancy Ann (Jones) Schleter, age 79, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Saturday May 26, 2018 from complications resulting from her third battle with cancer. She was born in Newtown, Indiana on December 31, 1938. A daughter of Linna and Glenn S. Jones, she was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold Jones, two infants, and her husband of 52 years – Joseph Schleter.

Nancy was a 1956 graduate of Richland Township High School and a 1960 Home Economics graduate of Purdue University. She also obtained a Master's degree in Special Education from IUPUI in 1976.

Nancy was married to Joe Schleter of Brownstown, Indiana on June 3, 1960. They lived in Colorado, Texas, and Alabama before returning to Indiana and settling in Greenfield where they lived for 35 years. She was very active with Special Olympics and the HCARC while working with the Greenfield Central School system and H&R Block. She moved back to Fountain County in 1998 where she and Joe retired to her family's original homestead. She enjoyed traveling, camping, cooking, knitting, and visiting with family.

Nancy is survived by her sister: Nina (Blackie) Nixon of Hillsboro, IN, her three sons: Will (Zeni) of Knoxville, TN, Jeff of Wingate, IN and Kurt (Peggy) of Greenfield, IN, six grandchildren: Zeni Marie, Amy, Scott, Meg, Joey, and Gracie, and her spoiled dog Jake.

Calling will be at the Family and Friends Funeral Home in Wingate, Indiana on Wednesday May 30, 2018 from 5 pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be Thursday May 31, 2018 at 11 am with Pastor Mike Parks officiating. Burial will follow at the Coal Creek Cemetery at the Union Christian Church.
