Hillsboro – Patrick K. 'Pat' Spurgeon age 53, of rural Hillsboro, died unexpectedly in his home, early Sunday morning, October 4, 2009. He was born in Crawfordsville, IN on November 26, 1955 the son of the late George Dwight and Frances I. Taylor Spurgeon who survives in Lafayette. He had made his home in Hillsboro the past three years, with special friend and companion Kelly Christian.
Pat had formerly been employed by, Walmart Optical, Standard Forwarding both in Crawfordsville and the Wingate Co-op. He was a former member of the Crawfordsville Eagles Lodge, an avid motorcyclist, enjoyed fishing, working on motors and the outdoors.
Surviving along with his mother are: two sons: Patrick K. Spurgeon of California and Austin Patrick Spurgeon (mother, Cathy Oswalt) of Wingate, brother Steven Spurgeon of Lafayette, sister-in-law Nancy Meagher Spurgeon of Crawfordsville, two grandchildren, many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his father, George Dwight Spurgeon, two brothers: Dwight C. Spurgeon and infant brother Francis D. Spurgeon.
Friends may call at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, Wednesday, October 7, 2009 from 5:00 – 7:30 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. with pastor Tom Camp officiating. Cremation will follow the service and inurnment will occur at a later date. Pat never met a stranger and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
