Obituary

R. Max Rogers age 82, of the Waynetown community, passed away unexpectedly at 9:09 PM Thursday, May 18, 2023 in Wellbrooke of Crawfordsville. Max was born in Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, June 18, 1940 son of the late Boyd O. and Alma Banta Rogers. He married Beverly Jane Oswalt in New Richmond, October 29, 1965 and she survives.

Max was raised on a farm and enjoyed farming with his dad. He was a 1959 graduate of Coal Creek Central High School and was employed for 14 years by Alcoa in Lafayette and continued to farm. Eventually he established a commercial painting, tree trimming and sandblasting business. Max was also a well-known Sales Rep. for CenPeCo, (Central Petroleum Company) selling paints, lubricants and oils.

Max was a die-hard Indiana Hoosiers fan, making many trips to Bloomington...rain, sleet or snow. He enjoyed yearly trips to Michigan mushroom hunting, golfing, camping and trips to Peoria casinos with friends. Max and Beverly spent many winters in Florida and he enjoyed spending time on the beaches looking for shells. He attended the former Wingate United Methodist Church and was a member of the New Richmond Masonic Lodge and achieved 32nd Degree.

Surviving along with his wife Beverly are: two sons; John (Jessica Madden) Rogers of Waynetown and Wayne (Charlene) Rogers of Crawfordsville and a daughter Lorianne (Brent) Hampton of Waynetown. Grandchildren: Blake Rogers, Aaron Rogers, Christopher Rogers, Adam (Heather) Hampton and Breanna Hampton. Great-grandchildren Travis, Ellanor and Kaceton. A sister Sally (Keith) Scott and brother-in-law Roger Kunkel both of New Richmond. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janice Kunkel, a brother James and his wife Martha and Great-grandson Jaxtyn.

Visitation hours are 5:00 – 8:00 PM Wednesday, May 24, 2023 with Masonic Services by New Richmond Masonic Lodge at 7:45 PM. Funeral services Thursday at 1:00 PM with Rev. John Pettigrew officiating all held at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Interment will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
