Rachel Loretta Dalton Pensinger age 89 of rural Wingate, passed away 7:00 AM Friday, February 21, 2025 in her home following a lengthy illness.  She was born Dec. 20, 1935 in Coal City, IN daughter of the late Virgil and Vernia Ulrich Dalton.  She married Larry Pensinger in North Terre Haute, March 30, 1960 and he preceded her in death Jan. 26, 2021.

She was a graduate of Clay City High School, first attending Indiana Univ. and later Indiana State Univ.  Rachel served as a secretary, including at Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Indianapolis and the Avon Community School Corporation.  She was a current member of New Hope Chapel in Wingate and formerly Bartlett Chapel United Methodist Church in Danville.  She was a member of the Montgomery County Purdue Extension Homemakers club.  She and Larry traveled on several mission trips where they assisted in building churches and schools.  She loved traveling, camping, gardening, music and her family.

Surviving are two daughters:  Carolyn Sue Pensinger of Wingate and Kathy Ann (David) Pensinger Kurfman of Kokomo. Grandsons:  Benjamin and Nathaniel Kurfman.  Sisters:  Betty Christy of Jacksonville Beach, FL; Gladys Hayward of Greenville, KY; Colleen South of Veedersburg, IN; Patsy Delomas of Jacksonville Beach, FL; and Etta (Aaron) Childs of Jacksonville, FL, also sister-in-law Bonnie Dalton of Jasonville, IN.  She was preceded in death by her husband Larry, brother Garry Dalton, and grandson Lukas Jones.

Visitation hours are 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2025 with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate.  Burial will follow in Ball Hill Cemetery near Cutler, IN.  Memorial contributions in memory of Rachel may be directed to New Hope Chapel.  Visit us online to share a memory or sign the guestbook at www.familyandfriendsfh.com
