Williamsport – Rebecca S. 'Beckie' Allen Phelps, age 68, died following a lengthy illness 5:15 P.M. Monday, May 14, 2012 in Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Attica. She was born in Lafayette on October 17, 1943 daughter of the late John and Gwendolyn Kirby Allen. Her family spent their early years in Attica before moving to Williamsport, where she attended Williamsport High School.
Beckie first married Jack Phelps in the Attica Assembly of God Church, July 1, 1961. He preceded her in death, October 13, 2001. She married Bob Spring, December 1, 2003, he survives. Beckie was a homemaker and an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing canasta and camping at Raccoon Lake.
Surviving are three sons: Curtis (Lisa) Phelps, Tony Phelps, Steve Phelps all of Covington, a daughter: Rachel (Jim) Coe of Jackson Center, Ohio. A sister: Connie (Bill) Foster of Attica, a brother William (Lucy) Allen of Highs, New Jersey. Grandchildren: Brandon & Justin Phelps, Ryan, Kara, Janine, Quentin, Jackson & Connor Phelps, Austin Phelps, Whitney Spicer, Jonathon, Ashley & Joshua Phelps. Two Great-greatgrandchildren: Vance & Jackson. Preceding her in death were her husband and parents.
There will be an informal gathering of Beckie's family and friends, Saturday, May 19, 2012 beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, 9700 North State Road 55, Wingate. An informal remembrance service will begin at 3:00 p.m. led by Pastor Joe Bell along with family members. Following Beckie's wishes, cremation was chosen.
