Obituary

Richard A. Coleman, age 90, a Newtown native, formerly of Powell, OH and Findlay, OH died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Wexner Heritage House in Columbus, OH. He was born July 17, 1922 son of the former Fred and Zella Arter Coleman. He was married to Mary Jane Fuller Coleman who preceded him in death.

Dick graduated from Newtown High School and was a 1948 graduate of Purdue University. He was a 1st Lt. in the United States Army during WWII and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal. Dick retired as Director of Manufacturing Engineering for Whirlpool Corp, Findlay, OH. He was a former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Findlay and the Findlay Kiwanis Club and was currently a member of New Hope Church in Powell.

He is survived by his children: Cynthia Coleman Irwin of Columbus, OH; Catherine K. Bame of Findlay, OH; Camilla A. (John) Gawronski of Houston, TX; Richard A. (Laura) Coleman, II of Dublin, OH; Kimberly J. (Tim) Strickler of Pittsburgh, PA; His grandchildren: Joshua R. Irwin of Ft. Myers, FL; Capt. Andrew J. Bame, USA, of Tacoma, WA; Tara R. (Maj. Eric, USA) Verwiebe of Landstuhl, Germany; Nicholas J. Gawronski of Houston, TX; Elise M. Strickler of Philadelphia, PA; Alaina L. Strickler of Pittsburgh, PA; Kendall Coleman of Dublin, OH; Richard A. "Cole" Coleman, III of Dublin, OH; and his great-grandson Luke G. Verwiebe. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jane; his sisters, Mary Jo Bush and Kathleen Peevler; His brothers, Robert C. Coleman and Fred Coleman

Funeral Service will be held 11:30am. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Rutherford Funeral Home, Powell, Ohio. Graveside Services with Military Honors by U. S. Army Reserve Honor Team and Veedersburg American Legion Post 228 will be held 1:00pm. Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Newtown Cemetery, Newtown, Indiana, Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is handling local arrangements.
