Richard Lee Marshall age 66 of Wingate, passed away at 8:21 AM Saturday, July 27 2024 following complications of a heart attack in Franciscan Hospital East Lafayette. He was born in Madison, Indiana June 27, 1958 son of the late Harold and Nellie Crane Marshall. He married Marlene Pruiett in Frankfort June 17, 1994 and she survives. They moved to Wingate in 2012 from West Lafayette.
As a child Richard was inflicted with rheumatic fever and polio which prevented him from attending school like other children. He overcame many health challenges including learning to walk again and dyslexia. Although he faced and over-came adversity he possessed a smile and upbeat personality. He was a man of integrity, straight talker and a very social person who never knew a stranger. He loved talking politics and the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of the Church of the Latter-day Saints.
He was 'retired' from Wabash National after more than 20 years, where he worked all facets of semi trailer manufacturing and spent the end of his time in the maintenance department.
Surviving along with his wife Marlene, are: two daughters; Amanda (Robert) Bajzatt of Frankfort and Jennifer Wilkinson (Joshua) of Crawfordsville. Two sons; Ricky Marshall and Matthew Savage both of Frankfort. Three grandchildren; Koty, Na'ilah and Israel and two great-granddaughters. Siblings; George (Diane) Marshall of Delphi, Jerry (Betty) Marshall of Reynolds, Roger (Janet) Marshall of Colburn, Connie (Ed) Johnson of Lebanon, Anthony (Gloria) Marshall of Texas, Julia Driggs of Frankfort, Beverly (Jason) Grubbs of Michigan, Melvin Marshall of Indianapolis, Vivian (Curt) Hoeksema of Kokomo, Marilyn Wells of Madison and Janet Buchanan of Mulberry. Many nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents and Grandson Devin.
