Robert Harlan Gross, age 90 formerly of Wingate, died Saturday evening, January 3, 2015 in Maple Park Nursing Home in Westfield. He was born December 29, 1924, in Crawfordsville, the son of the late Lawrence and Mable Gross. He married Nina (Miles) Gross from Waynetown, IN on May 4, 1986 and she survives
He attended Wingate High School and served in the U.S. Army. He spent his life farming in Wingate community except for the 10 years he served as the manager of Richard Lugar Stock Farm in Marion County. Bob had also worked as a custodian at Coal Creek Central School.
He enjoyed farming, basketball and eating a good meal. After retirement, Bob enjoyed helping his nephew, Kevin on the farm. He loved his children and spending his morning's drinking coffee with the men in Wingate. Bob kept himself busy around his farm until his health prevented it.
Robert is survived by his children, Michael Robert Gross (Jan) of Plainfield, Teresa Jones of Ashland City, TN, Gary Lawrence Gross (Cindy) of Kokomo and Lori Flynn of Carmel; 8 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and sister-in-law, Lois Gross also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Homer, Donald and Dan.
His family will greet guests Tuesday, January 6, 2015 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m at Family and Friends of Wingate, IN with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Alan Goff officiating.
