October 3, 1941 – June 22, 2024
Robert W. Myers age 82 of Robinson, Illinois and formerly of the Wingate community, passed away 5:55 PM Saturday, June 22, 2024 in St. Vincent Hospital, Evansville. Bob was born in Lafayette, ctober 3, 1941 son of the late Woodrow and Georgia Horton Myers. He married Revadell Lith in Robinson, Illinois December 28, 1996 and she survives.
Bob was a 1959 graduate of Coal Creek Central High School. He served in the U.S. Navy 1959 – 1962 and was honorably discharged as an E5. Growing up in the Wingate community he worked for area farmers, Robinson Implement Co., was a talented welder and operated a shop at his rural Wingate residence. For many years he operated the local Marathon Oil Distributorship delivering fuels to area farms and homes.
Bob was a former member of the New Richmond Masonic Lodge and served as Past Worshipful Master. He was also a member of the Shrine, and was a clown known as 'Woody'. He was a talented woodworker and shared his projects with many. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, traveling the USA and abroad. He was the love of Reva's life. Bob was a great father, friend, husband and grandpa. He had an ever-present smile and was a loveable, mischievous 'Rascal'. He would do anything for anyone in need.
Surviving along with his wife Reva, are: a daughter Tammy Myers (husband Donald J. Moran Jr.) of Rayville, MO and her children; Joslan, Jason (Jennifer), Jordan, Thompson and great-grandchild Waylon Henry James Thompson. Step-daughters; Cheryl (Ken) Sherlock of Carthage, MO and her son Michael Sherlock, and Jill (Trevor) Marcum of Springfield, MO and her children Ethan and Nicholas Marcum. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Joan Faye Bowers.
Visitation hours are noon – 2:00 PM Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with funeral services following at 2:00 PM with Pastor Albert Woods officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. Military Honors by Byron Cox American Legion Post 72. Memorial contributions may be directed to Greenlawn Cemetery.
