Roy George Klaty age 85 of rural Waynetown, passed away unexpectedly at 10:04 AM Tuesday, January 13, 2026 in the ER of Franciscan Alliance Hospital, Crawfordsville. He was born in Carsonville, MI April 10, 1940 to the late George and Clara Brown Klaty. He was first married to Mary Jean Hilligoss and she preceded him in death in 1980. He married Sharon Anne Hargrove Croft March 25,1981 in Colorado Springs, CO and she survives.
Roy was a graduate of Carsonville High School in Carsonville, MI. Following graduation from high school Roy had enough of the farm and spread his wings, moving to Bay City to work for his Uncle’s construction company where he became a ‘plasterer’ and later began building homes. Along the way he had managed a finance office, was a truck driver and operated a Snap On Tool route. He attended a real estate training school and earn his Realtor designation and had a career in real estate sales. Not being one to be idle, Roy established Geothermal Products Company in his garage and as it grew moved the business to Crawfordsville. He operated the business for over 20 years before retiring.
In Roy's teenage years, he felt he needed a Savior to navigate life's journey. His choice gave him faith, hope, and joy in Jesus. In each state in which he lived of Michigan, Indiana, Colorado and Texas he enjoyed the same fellowship meeting with others in homes for Christian Fellowship meetings. Roy liked to be busy and often had many projects going. He enjoyed meeting people and visiting. He and his wife Sharon shared a love of traveling and they shared 45 loving years together.
Surviving along with his wife Sharon, are step-children; Brent, Jason, Amber, their spouses and multiple step-grandchildren. A sister, Norma Brown of Marquette, MI and several nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Carl Klaty and brother-in-law Robert Brown.
Visitation hours are 10:00 AM -12:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2026 with funeral services following at 12:00 PM at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with Bruce Shaw and Greg Harger officiating.
