New Richmond – Sandra Jane Hitch Pendleton, age 71 of New Richmond, passed away unexpectedly at 11:17 a.m. Thursday, October 5, 2017 in Franciscan Health St. E. East Hospital, Lafayette. She was born in Crawfordsville, November 14, 1945 daughter of the late Corwin Albert and Ruth Zurface Hitch. She married Arthur 'Doc' Pendleton on February 15, 1970 in Crawfordsville and he survives.
Sandy was a graduate of Crawfordsville High School and moved to New Richmond following their marriage. After their children were raised, she began a career in banking. She was first employed by Salin Bank in Lafayette, then Lincoln Federal in Crawfordsville and retired from Hoosier Heartland Bank. She had been an active member of Eastern Star and was nominated as a 'Rainbow Girl' by the Masonic Lodge. She cherished her granddaughters and enjoyed supporting them in their school and sports activities. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed canning, decorating her home and collected glassware. Sandy and Doc were always together, except when he was working. She supported Doc's dedication to his work with REMC and her family! She was proud of her 2012 Ford Mustang convertible and her cats, Precious and Blackie.
Surviving along with her husband 'Doc': a daughter, Renee (Chad) Neukam and a son, Darren Pendleton and two granddaughters; Kaidlyne and Kourtney Neukam. Preceding her in death were her parents, a sister Marilyn and brother Ronald 'Buddy'.
Visitation hours are 5:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral services at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 with Pastor Jeff Stedge officiating. Burial will follow in Waynetown Masonic Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Assn. with envelopes available at the funeral home.
