Sandra ‘Kay’ Dazey Ratcliff age 83, of rural Waynetown, was reunited with her father and mother, Vergil and Agnes Friend Dazey following a lengthy illness at 5:00 AM Friday, June 5, 2026. Kay was born in Crawfordsville, September 12, 1942,, she was raised near Wingate and a graduate of Coal Creek Central High School. She married Robert Ratcliff on June 10, 1988 and he survives.
Kay’s early career was in banking and was employed by banks in Newtown and Wingate. She and Robert also owned and operated The Spartan Inn Restaurant in Wingate for several years. She later was employed by Caterpillar in Lafayette where she retired as a procurement manager.
She had been a member at New Hope Chapel in Wingate and First United Methodist Church in Crawfordsville. Kay had a beautiful voice and loved singing in the church choirs and with the Crescendo’s at the First United Methodist Church. Her greatest love was her family. She enjoyed going to her grandchildren/great-grandchildren’s sporting events. Kay and Robert enjoyed traveling to Florida to spend the winter months in the warmth until her failing health prevented traveling.
Surviving along with husband Robert are: six sons; Kevin (Tammie) Bonebrake of Crawfordsville, Denny (Shelley) Bonebrake of Linden, Brian (Beth) Ratcliff of Waynetown, Shaun (Nicole) Ratcliff of Crawfordsville, Larry (Julie) Ratcliff of Crawfordsville, Chad Ratcliff of Lafayette, a brother Gerald (Janice) Dazey of Greencastle. 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren with one more on the way and 3 great-great grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents and granddaughter Audria.
Visitation hours are 5:00 – 7:00 PM Thursday, June 11, 2026 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate with services following at 7:00 PM with Steve Wilson officiating. Kay chose cremation and family graveside service in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate, will follow her service. Memorial contributions are preferred to Montgomery County Special Olympics.
