Shari Sue (Cord) Larew of Millersburg, Indiana, passed away Monday, August 16, 2021, after a battle with cancer. She celebrated her 77th birthday just days before her death.
She was born in Crawfordsville, August 11, 1944, to the late Ernest "Dick" and Gladys (Utterback) Cord. After graduating from Waynetown High School in 1962, she attended Purdue University. She graduated in 1966 with a degree in education. She married her high school sweetheart, Ron Larew, on December 19, 1965. They spent much of their 56 years of married life in Montgomery County. Shari taught at Dayton Elementary, Darlington Elementary, Hose Elementary, and Tuttle Middle School for a total of 31 years. She attended and helped with many North Montgomery High School music and sports events for her children, Lesley and David. Her four grandchildren were her focus after retiring from teaching. An avid sports fan, she loved to watch Purdue basketball and the Cincinnati Reds. After moving to Millersburg, she was a member of Zion Community Church where she served in positions of leadership.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Larew, of Millersburg, Indiana, and by two children, Lesley (Sam) Lashley of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and David (Keri) Larew of Henderson, Kentucky. She is also survived by her brother Ron (Brenda) Cord of Spokane, Washington, sister Mary (Cord) Irvin of Greenwood, Indiana, brother-in-law Mike Rose of Fowler, Indiana, four grandchildren, Emma Lashley and Katie Lashley of Crawfordsville, Indiana, and J.D. (Jessica) Larew and Reese Larew of Henderson Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Lana Lou (Cord) Rose, of Elmdale, Indiana.
A graveside service for family and friends will be held 10:30 AMFriday, August 20, 2021, at the Waynetown Masonic Cemetery with Pastor Lisa Hood officiating. Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Zion Community Church, 323 E. Lincoln Street, Millersburg, Indiana, 46543.
