Crawfordsville – Sharon Louise Fry Harrison Verhey, age 72 of Crawfordsville, died unexpectedly at 5:12 p.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 in St. Elizabeth East Hospital, Lafayette. Her health had been failing the past year. She was born in
LaPorte, IN January 9, 1944 daughter of the late Oliver R. and Dorothy Louise Miller Fry. She married Melvin D. Verhey, November 21, 1984 and he preceded her in death, February 9, 2010.
Sharon graduated from Crawfordsville High School and Ivy Tech College, School of Nursing as a LPN. She retired from St. Clare Hospital. She was a member of the Whitesville Christian Church, active in the Moose Lodge and Phi Chi Epsilon.
She enjoyed camping, reading, sewing and gardening. Sharon was a very kind, loving, caring and unselfish woman, with no expectations of others. She was always willing to help anyone.
Surviving are; two sons: Brian K. (wife Dianna) Verhey of rural Waynetown and Mike E. (wife Paulla) Harrison of Andalusa, AL and a daughter, Jodi K. (husband Jason) Greenlee of Waynetown. Three sisters: Judith K. (Ray) Estep, Teresa Cotton and Kandace Lyn (Carl) Gleason all of Crawfordsville. Two brothers, Michael D. (Patsy) Fry of New Smyrna Beach, FL and James Earl Fry of Texas. Seven grandchildren: Andrew, Chantalle, Katelyn, Cody, Derrick, Kristoffer and Kaitlyn also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin Verhey, two children: Ken Allen and David Leon Jr. a sister, Irene Marie. Two brothers: Joseph and Frederick Fry.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2016 at the Whitesville Christian Church with Pastor Mike Whiteacre officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, Grant Street, Crawfordsville.
