Crawfordsville – Sherry Sue 'Claycomb' Bruton, age 42 died in her home, surrounded by family, 12:04 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 following a battle with cancer. She was born February 5, 1975 in Lafayette's Home Hospital, her mother Sue Ellen Claycomb survives in Wingate. She married Tom Bruton, January 26, 2008 in Woodland Heights Church and he survives.
Sherry was a 1993 graduate of North Montgomery High School. She was employed by the US Postal Service from July 2, 2003 – May 28, 2015 as a substitute mail carrier. In June of 2013 she began employment with the Crawfordsville Police Department in building maintenance.
Sherry loved her family...she supported her daughter's school activities and didn't miss those events. Her life was all about family and the family dog 'Blaze'. She didn't have a mean bone in her body and never met a stranger. Her smile and laugh will be missed by all who knew her.
Surviving with her husband Tom and mother Sue are: Two daughters; Zoe Maye Harp and Macy Jo Bruton, both at home. Two brothers: Mike (Amy) Claycomb of New Richmond and Brian Claycomb (companion 'Pebbles' McDonald) of Wingate, a special uncle and aunt who have been there for her and her family, Paul and Linda England of Wingate, and 'best friend'/garage sale partner, Julie Tribble. She was preceded in death by her grandmother Mary Claycomb.
Visitation hours are 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services are 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 16, 2017 at the funeral home, with Pastor Duane Mycroft officiating. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to a college fund being set up for Zoe and Macy, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
