New Richmond – Steven Eugene Niece, age 63 of New Richmond, died Monday, August 22, 2016 surrounded by family in St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been in failing health the past several years. Steve was born in Crawfordsville August 28, 1952 son of Clarence 'Sonny' Denham and the late Rita Yike Niece.

Steve attended Crawfordsville High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force, receiving a medical discharge. Before his health declined, for several years he was employed at Alcoa in Lafayette. He formerly worked for US Airways and RR Donnelley.

Steve formerly belonged to the Crawfordsville American Legion. After his failing health complicated his life and he became disabled, Steve became a 'homebody'. He enjoyed computers and watching movies.

Surviving along with his father Sonny, are: a daughter, Shanna Marie Cunningham (Trav) of Brazil, IN and a son, Steven Michael Niece (Heather) of Waynetown. Two sisters: Sunny Rochelle (Shawn Eubanks) of New Richmond and Debbie (Taz) Dowers of Cayuga, four grandchildren: Albreanna Bussell, Cierra Niece, Gracie & Chesney Cunningham and Desmond Chrisman. Two great-grandchildren, Asher & Mallory Niece. His best-friend John Ratcliff also survives. He was preceded in death by his mother, a son Christopher, sister Connie and his grandparents.
