Thomas Jay Henthorn 62 of Waynetown died Monday morning, January 2, 2017 in Signature Health Care at Parkwood in Lebanon. He was born in Hillsboro, March 2, 1954 son of the late Albert and Mildred Lough Henthorn. On January 8, 1977 he married Susan Jo Laughner in Waynetown and she survives.
Tom was a graduate of North Montgomery High School where he was a standout in in track. He was proud to be a 'Cum laude' graduate of Wabash College. Early in his career he worked with his father in insurance. He then entered the banking field, beginning with the former Elston Bank and retired from Montgomery Savings as a Vice President and Loan Officer. He had been active in the Crawfordsville Kiwanis where he was a 'past president'. He had attended both the Waynetown Christian Church and Wesley Chapel.
Tom enjoyed fishing, reading, photography and classical music. He had a great sense of humor, was 'onery' and loved to tease people!
Surviving along with his wife Susan Jo, are: two daughters: Elizabeth 'Libby' (husband Rob) Middendorf of Indianapolis and Kathryn 'Kate' (husband Jeff) Horlacher of Crawfordsville, a grandson Eli Sowder, brother C. Rex (wife Sandra) Henthorn of Crawfordsville and sister Rita (husband Lee) Kirkpatrick of Tallahassee, FL and Waynetown. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His family will greet guests, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday, January, 6, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate and an hour prior to his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating. Interment will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
