Vaughn E. Poynter, age 76, of Crawfordsville passed away, 12:15 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2107 in Franciscan Health Hospital, Indianapolis. He was born in Montgomery County, March 11, 1941, son of the late Gerald 'Shorty' and LaVerne Grimes Poynter. He married Nancy Jo Myers Wilson, in Waveland, December 6, 1980 and she survives.

He was a graduate of New Market High School, served in the United States Army and was a graduate of the Lafayette Business College. Vaughn lived in the Crawfordsville community for his lifetime. He had farmed with his father, owned and operated a Shell Service Station in Crawfordsville and most of his career was as a 'service writer' for various automobile dealerships in Crawfordsville. Most recently he was employed at Walmart Distribution Center. He was a member of Woodland Heights Christian Church. Vaughn enjoyed sports especially basketball. He and Nancy had travel on their motorcycle and enjoyed camping.

Surviving along with his wife Nancy, are: two step-sons, Lloyd Wilson of Crawfordsville and Jeffrey 'Charlie' (Kim) Wilson of Mooresville, NC. Three daughters; Kim Poynter and Tina Swank both of Lafayette and Michelle (Darren) Murphy of Crawfordsville. Eight grandchildren and two great-granddaughters, Eden and Makenna, a brother, Mitchell pointer and a sister, Starlet (Larry) Powers also survives. He was preceded in death by his parents and step-son, Troy Wilson.

Visitation hours are 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Woodland Heights Christian Church, Crawfordsville. Funeral service to follow visitation at 1:00 p.m at the church with Pastor Steve Wilke officiating. Burial will follow at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
