Velma Louise Wright Wethington age 91 of Crawfordsville and formerly of the New Richmond  community, passed away 6:15 PM Monday, May 20, 2024 in Franciscan Health Hospital East, Lafayette.  She was born April 10, 1933 in Dana, IN daughter of the late Robert Owen and Elva May Huffman Wright.  She married Grover Cleveland Wethington in Crawfordsville June 29, 1952.  He preceded her in death August 8, 2013.

Velma was a 1951 graduate of Green Township High School in Parke County.  She worked as a dispatcher for Bennett Transportation and had previously been employed by North Montgomery High School as a custodian.

She enjoyed euchre, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, word search puzzles and reading her Bible.  She had enjoyed woodworking with her husband and helping her son install monument foundations in cemeteries until her health failed.

Surviving are: a daughter; Dianna Lynn (Bryan) Matricia of Linden: two sons; Stanley D. (LeAnne) Wethington of Crawfordsville and Russell A. (Tina) Wethington of New Richmond.  Ten Grandchildren: Kristie, Stacey, Brad, Stephanie, Randy, Kim, Ashley, Adam, Corey, Monica, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren also survive.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Wuanita and three brothers; Herbert, Lloyd and Frances.
