Virgil Jackson, age 79, of Newtown died in 1019 Belle's Place of Crawfordsville, 3:30 A.M. Thursday, April 3, 2025. He had been battling cancer. He was born December 31, 1945 in Sidney, Ohio to the late Otis and Nellie Murphy Jackson. He married Dessie Musgrove in McCreary County, Kentucky and she preceded him in death March 10, 2014.

Virgil attended schools in Ohio.   He  resided in Newtown since 1974 and was employed by Harrison Steel Castings in Attica, retiring in 2013. He then was employed by Phelps Enterprises until his wife's health failed.  Virgil enjoyed anything outdoors…hunting fishing and hunting mushrooms.

Surviving are: Two daughters, Debbie Polston of Newtown and Angela (Kevin) David of Ft. Wayne. Three sons, Mike (Sondra) Jackson of Newtown, Steve (Kristi) Jackson of Veedersburg and Scott (Stacey) Jackson, of Newtown. 21 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings: a brother Fred, and sisters; Lois, Grace and Laverne.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dessie, two sisters and a brother.

Visitation hours are 11:00 AM – 1:00 p.m. Monday, April 7, 2025 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral services following at the funeral home, at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Rick Fay officiating.  Burial will follow in Newtown Cemetery.
