Wayne David Rush, age 64 of Waynetown, Indiana, passed away on December 31, 2015, at St. Elizabeth in Lafayette after battling Lymphoma.
Born November 5, 1951, he is the son of David and the late Maxine (Schenck) Rush of Waynetown. Wayne married Vicki Ann Barker on May 20th, 1973. They were married 42 years.
Wayne graduated from Waynetown High School in 1970 and received a Bachelors of Science degree in Animal Science from Purdue University in 1974.
Wayne had a passion for raising livestock and farming, which he made his lifelong career. He loved passing this on to his children through their 4-H projects. He enjoyed fishing, following multiple sports and spending time with his family. Wayne was previously a Waynetown volunteer EMT. He served on the North Montgomery Holding Corporation for construction of the consolidated elementary schools. Wayne and his wife Vicki are members of the Waynetown Baptist Church, where he also served as a Deacon and in the choir. He was a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge No. 385 and the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis.
Surviving family includes: his father; his wife; daughter Courtney (Chad) Buckles of Zionsville; daughter Lindsey Rush (partner Katie Harris) of Indianapolis; son Jared (Courtney) Rush of Chicago, IL; grandchildren Bryant and Griffin Buckles and Addison Harris; brother Gary (Jody) Rush of Waynetown; brother Warren Rush of Waynetown; in-laws James and Patricia Barker of Waynetown; sister-in-law Vanessa Homsher of Crawfordsville; sister-in-law Carla (Jim) Whitehead of Waynetown; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Sunday, January 3 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. followed by Masonic Services at Family & Friends Funeral Home in Wingate. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home January 4 at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Ron Raffignone of Waynetown Baptist Church and Melvin Vance officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery.
