Waynetown – William Eugene Allison, age 85, of Waynetown died at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2017 in Lane House Nursing Home, Crawfordsville. He was born December 1, 1931 in Rossville, IL son of the late Roy Eugene and Viola Blanche Pittman Allison. He married Betty McGrew on January 26, 1952 who survives. The had just celebrated 65 years of marriage.
Bill was a graduate of Rossville IL High School and was a retired truck driver having driven for Shareman Trucking. He was a member of the Waynetown Christian Church. Until Bill became ill, he enjoyed woodworking and mowing lawns (as he did for many in the community until last fall). He played baseball as a young man and pitched 'fast pitch' softball until he was 79. Bill also enjoyed playing euchre. He was competitive, kind hearted, stubborn and the most caring person you'll ever meet.
Surviving along with his wife Betty: a son Greg Allison of Crawfordsville, granddaughter Mendi (Rush) McColley of West Lafayette, two great-granddaughters, Allison and Mallori McColley , who were the apple of his eye the past nine years and life was all about them! Also surviving is a sister Sue White of Charleston, IL, a niece Kim (Jerry) Ashby and a nephew Jr. White. He was preceded in death by his parents a son Jeff Allison.
Visitation will be noon to 2:00 pm. Thursday, March 2, 2017 with funeral services at 2:00 p.m at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating.
