Obituary

Attica – William S. Foster, age 71, passed away at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017 in his home, where he had been lovingly cared for by his wife and daughter. He had been in failing health the past year. Bill was born in Danville, Illinois, on August 12, 1945, son of the late Max and Betty Eileen Trigstead Foster. He married Connie Allen on February 26, 1967 in Williamsport and she survives. They celebrated their 50th Anniversary in Ft. Myers, in February.

Bill was a graduate of Attica High School, the Purdue Ag. Winter Short Course and served 6 years with the Indiana Army National Guard. He was a life resident of the Attica area and was a lifelong farmer in Fountain County. He became conservationist, respecting the land and preserving wildlife by establishing cover crop habitat as protection for them. Bill farmed with Luther Phillips at his side for 40 years and in planning for his retirement, Bill formed a partnership with his good friend Pat McGraw.

Bill was member of the Attica Eagles, where he was actively involved as an officer and Trustee for many years. He was a 'Golden Eagle' and enjoyed his many friends, as 'life's issues' were often settled in the confines of the Eagles. Through the years he enjoyed yearly fishing trips to Canada, was involved in the NWTF and enjoyed golfing. Bill was loyal to Purdue athletics and for 50 years attended Purdue football and basketball games with family and friends. Bill and Connie spent their honeymoon in Ft. Myers, FL and they enjoyed spending many winters there the past 50 years. They spent many summers on Lake Shelbyville enjoying boating and their friends.

Bill was a legend, a one of a kind and everyone's Buddy. His heart was as big as his farm and his smile and laugh even bigger. Everyone will miss the 'Foster waller', (Bill's big hugs)! Though his stature was large, he was a very kind and sensitive man, endearing him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Surviving with his wife Connie are: Two daughters; Jennifer Foster (companion Nathan Streun), of Dallas, TX, Eileen Foster Trowbridge (husband Joshua) of Alva, FL, a nephew; Daniel (Brandie) Hedgecock of Attica who he loved as a son. A sister Carmie (Dave) Berghoff of Attica, as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Bill's family will receive guests 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, May 21, 2017 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with memorial services beginning at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with Pastor Joe Bell officiating. Following the services, family and friends are invited to the Attica Eagles for a time of remembrance, sharing 'Bill stories' and refreshments at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Attica Lutheran Church or Attica Eagles.
