Obituary

William H. Robinson, age 78, of Newtown, died 1:50 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 in his home surrounded by family. He had been in failing health the past year. Bill was born in Crawfordsville, March 31, 1936 son of the late Howard LaGue and Margaret Hilbrich Robinson. He married Betty Wright, May 29, 1955 in Newtown and she preceded him in death, July 17, 2000.

Bill was a 1954 graduate of Richland Township High School and served with the Indiana National Guard 1954-1961. Bill had worked at R & R Donnelley for 23 years and in construction.  He retired from Harrison Steel after 15 years, where he was a Foremen in pattern layout.  Bill had also worked part-time for Family & Friends Funeral Home. He served on the Newtown Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Newtown Community Church where he had actively participated in several remodeling projects.  He was also a member of the former Richland Lodge #205 F & AM. Bill was a very talented woodworker and shared his projects with his family and friends. He enjoyed working in his garden until his health prevented doing so and he enjoyed watching sports and Nascar races.

Bill was a quiet man by nature and was incredibly proud of his family.

Surviving are; two daughters, Tammy (Randy) Allen of Hillsboro and Tina (Jerry) Gookins of Veedersburg and a son, Gary (Dorie) Robinson of Veedersburg.  Also surviving are ten grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Betty, a son Scott Robinson (July 30, 2011), grandson Ryan Robinson (April 5, 1983) and long time companion Sharon Bacon (February 22, 2012).

Bill's family will greet guests, 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2014 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Funeral service will be held at the funeral home, 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 with Pastor Mike Parks officiating.  In keeping with Bill's wishes, cremation will follow his funeral and he will be inurned at Waynetown Masonic Cemetery at a later date.  Memorial contributions may best be directed to Newtown Community Church.  To leave a condolence or share a memory, visit us online at www.familyandfriendsfh.com
