Wingate – Frances Ann Irvin Beardsley, age 91, formerly of rural Wingate, passed away 8:15 AM Friday, November 2, 2018 in Franciscan St. E. East Hospital, Lafayette.  Frances was born at home, October 6, 1927 daughter of the late Hubert and Eva Grenard Irvin.   She married Derlan V. Beardsley and he preceded her in death in 2005

Frances graduated from Wingate High School in 1945 and retired from Alcoa after 33 years.  She had also been employed as a clerk for the Montgomery County ASCS office and the Chamber of Commerce.  She had also assisted her husband on the farm.

She was a faithful member of the Pleasant Hill United Hill Church of Christ in Wingate, Montgomery County Mental Health Assn. and the American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband and had visited 48 states and Hawaii.   Frances was a unique character with a quick dry wit!  She was known as a 'card shark' and took delight in saying, "I told ya so!"

Surviving are, sisters; Nancy Hoskins of Wingate, Merry Christine (Steve) Voliva of Crawfordsville, Earline Foster of Lafayette and Sue Wildman of Veedersburg. Nieces and nephews; Fred (Rhonda) VanHook, Dave (Kim) VanHook, Bart (Tracy) VanHook Sharon (Joe) Dark,  Robert (Sheri) Beardsley, Dyrl (Stephanie) Beardsley, Stuart (Brenda) Beardsley, Nisha (Michael) Beardsley, Karen (Bob) Balwen.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Barbara VanHook, niece Patty VanHook and brothers-in-law, Joy Hoskins, Jim Foster, William VanHook and Philo Wildman.

Visitation hours are 5 – 8 PM Monday, November 5, 2018 at Family and Friends Funeral Home of Wingate, with funeral services at the funeral home, 11:00 AM Tuesday, November 6, 2018 with Pastor Dorman Winger officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pleasant Hill Church of Christ.  Visit us at www.familyandfriendsfh.com to leave a condolence or share a memory
